Whitten Professor and Acting Department Head What Is Political Science? Political Science is the scientific study of the way groups make decisions. At A&M we study group decision-making at every level of analysis: families and firms; churches and schools; cities and states; executives, legislatures, and courts; rebel groups and inter-governmental organizations. In a phrase, we study “politics without borders.” We are committed to equipping students with the analytical skills to understand and influence group choices in whatever setting they find themselves. The Department of Political Science at Texas A&M University offers both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree, allowing students both liberal arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) experiences. These experiences prepare students for careers in public service, law, business, journalism, secondary and higher education, and more.
